It's Good To Be Home Again

For the past month I have had the privilege to assist my great-grandparents back in New Jersey as they deal with some serious health issues. As much as I was grateful for the opportunity to spend time with them, see my beloved New Jersey once again, and visit with a some special East Coast friends, it was good to come home.

Initially my visit to New Jersey was supposed to encompass a two week period, but that stretched to a month due to my grandfather’s deteriorating health. Many, many hours of telephone communication occurred between Texas and New Jersey in that four week span as I tried to stay abreast of my family’s daily activities and share the happenings from my side of the country. Absence makes the heart grow fond, as the old saying goes, and my month in Jersey made me all the more grateful for my dear family.

There is nothing like hearing my mother’s comforting voice after a difficult doctor visit, or calling my dad for directions 1500 miles away, or listening to the details of my younger brother’s latest creation, or knowing that my big brother cares enough to call and check to see how I’m doing. It’s enough to make one feel loved, very loved, and very grateful that I can now receive all those benefits without the assistance of the little black cellphone.

Like I said, it’s good to be home again.
